1.28.2004 -
Bruce will be coming to the Mateel Community Center on 22 February 2004!! Julie Wolf will be performing with him on keyboards. This show is presented by KMUD. Yea!! this is practically in my back yard :-)
I hope to have lots of tales about this gig, including pictures. While putting up these new items, I've been listening to the latest 'live' show I have, from Hamilton Place, recorded on 30 November 2003 with the full band. (Ben Riley-drums, Steve Lucas-bass, and Julie Wolf-keyboards) This is an awesome show and so it the sound quality. I should be getting a show of just Bruce and Julie soon, this show from Breman Germany has also had rave reveiws. Bruce has just returned from a humanitarian fact-finding mission in Iraq, you can read all about it at the www.cockburnproject.net. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 6.14.2003 - Bruce's new album...You've Never Seen Everything...which is truly wonderful, very powerful and full of images and feelings, was released this week. He will be starting a North American tour in July. I will be going to the 29 July show at the Mystic Theater in Petaluma!!! Yea!! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - From the time I was 5 years old, music has played an important role in my life. Someday I will tell the whole story. But here you will find my humble homage to Bruce Cockburn. The first time I ever heard his voice...I was taken. It was a warm sunny day in Boulder, Colorado. I was out cruising in my '73VW bug, wishing for something 'good' to listen to. Music wasn't inspiring me much at this point in time ('81). Then a song came on the radio I had never heard before...there was something about it that sent chills down my spine and tingles on my arms. It wasn't that the song was saying anything so great, but the intensity in which it was being sung. It moved me. And the dj didn't say who it was! Couldn't have that... I had to know. As I just happened to be near the college radio station - KBLX (?) I drove to the entrance on a side street..double parked ran upstairs and shouted to the startled radio-people," Who was that you just played?!" You must know the rest, they said it was Bruce Cockburn and they play a lot of his music. I went in search of something I could listen to...his latest album at that time was, "Inner City Front". Of course, I had to back track into his earlier stuff, some 10 + albums! And I have been collecting everything he does since then. Come to find out, his songwriting is powerful and beautiful and polititcal at times. He says so often what I can barely articulate...and he says it OUTLOUD! An amazing guitarist as well. If you have never listen to the man, may I suggest you take the time to hear him. After 30+ albums, I am sure you will be able to find something you can relate to. On this site I have a list of live recordings I own and some personal photos. In time I will be adding 'personal Bruce stories'.. like 'How did you get turned on to him' & 'When did you first see him perform?' & 'How does he make you feel?' type of things. These being mine and others personal take on Bruce and his music. Looking for a complete archive of the man, his songs, albums, comments and tourdates ? ... please go to cockburnproject.net.
